Sunday was Elimination Final day and Bannockburn 10-8-68 defeated Corio 6-1-37 in the Under 18’s to end the Devils season. Conditions are similar to yesterday and early on both sides again could not adapt to the conditions, continually play the bay side and not taking advantage of what is a 5 to 6 goal wind. The Tigers did take their chances in the 2nd quarter putting 5 goals to 1 and then holding Corio to 3 goals when it was there go in the 3rd.
This gave Bannockburn a goal lead and the wind in the last to kick away by 5 goals in the end. Biggs with 4 goals and Bath were best for Bannockburn while Accheni and Cullen stood up well for Corio
In the reserves Bell Post Hill accounted for East Geelongs season with a comfortable 5 goal win. It took East Geelong three quarters to make a major impact on the scoreboard and only trailed by 5 points at the last break. However they didn’t have any petrol left in the tank and the Panthers had the wind in the last quarter to win 9-8-62 to East Geelong 4-6-30.
Baird and Overall were best for The Hill while coach Maurie Stevenson and Confait kept at it for East. Bell Post Hill will meet Werribee Centrals in next weeks 1st Semi Final.
In the Seniors Bannockburn were too strong for Weribee Centrals all over the ground building up a good lead early and never being really headed. Centrals Captain Brendan Chugg and Coach David Leatch tried hard but the likes of Riccardi, Furtulla and Woods were too good. Bannockburn now take on Thomason in the 1st semi final
