We are underway for the 2009 Finals campaign. And Werribee Centrals have got on the board 1st in the Under 18's Qualifying Final 4.6.30 defeating East Geelong 3.8.26
Bouwmann and Williams tried hard to reverse the result for East but Gamble and Camilleri got the Centurions through to a second semi match with North Geelong.
In the Reserves the blustery conditions have continued making it difficult for Football. Bannockburn dominated most of the competition against Werribee Centrals but a rally in the third quarter by the Centurions saw them within 11 points at the final break. But the Tigers had the wind going to the City end and put on 4 goals to deliver them the continued double chance next week against Corio. Watts and Duncan were good for Bannock whilst old stager Jason Fastuca stood out for Werribee. Bannockburn 8.11. defeated Werribee Centrals 3.5
Then senior qualifying final turned into a bit of a mismatch with last years finalists Bell Post Hill pretty much dominating the match in the continual blustery conditions.
Jackson Macleod was a late withdrawal from the Thomson side and his goal presence up forward was sorely missed. On the contrary Justin Tarr’s six goals for the Panthers fed by David Holzfeind, who should play a part in tomorrow nights Whitley medal count. Bell Post Hill now play East Geelong with Thomson to play the winner of today’s elimination final. Bell Post Hill 17.12-114 def. Thomson 8.18-66
