Bannockburn has sent a warning to the other top sides with a shock 38-point win against second-placed Thomson at Victoria Park on Saturday.
The Bannockburn Tigers are serious about finals action, and now must be seen as genuine contenders after leading by 65 points at three-quarter-time.
Thomson finished strongly, kicking six goals to two in the final quarter, but the damage was already done.
There were contributors all over the ground for Bannockburn, but Michael Allan (two goals) up forward and Kane Taylor, playing off the halfback line, were particularly impressive, while Gareth Hagelbols was good in the ruck.
Thomson was without star forward Luke Forbes, who has kicked 104 goals this season, and struggled to cover his loss in addition to the players missing from last week with injuries.
Brent Macleod was at his affluent best, while Jackson Macleod tried to fill the void in the forward line, kicking five goals.
Brad Furtulla (four goals) and Aaron Eddy (three goals) again led the scoring for Bannockburn.
