Werribee Centrals has secured a finals berth and fourth place on the ladder with a 64-point win over Anakie at Anakie Reserve on Saturday.
Anakie started well, but struggled with accuracy in the first quarter and could not keep up as Werribee continued to build momentum in the following quarters.
Blake Pilkington (five goals) was in sensational touch, named best on ground again, with his gut-running and goal sense a valuable asset for the Centurions.
Tyren Montebruno (three goals) and Phil Jones again found themselves among the best for Werribee, while Shaun McGuinness kept Jamie Pitman goalless.
For Anakie, Daniel Ladgrove was excellent in the midfield and Luke Wilson regained confidence in the ruck.
Tom Parsons, more accustomed to a role at fullback, found himself in the forward line for the ‘Roos, and kicked four goals.
As Werribee Centrals gears up for finals, Anakie’s attention will turn to next week’s clash against Belmont which the ‘Roos will be keen to win to end the year on a good note.
