The EDFNL U18s won two of its three matches at the Gippsland Junior carnival held at Morwell Recreation reserve today to finish third of the six leagues competing.

It finished second in Pool B after a win over East Gippsland (EGFNL) and a loss to West Gippsland (WGFNC) before it beat Mid Gippsland (MGFNL) in the 3rd v 4th play-off.more

Here is the mid-season club by club review. Whether it is a mid or three quarter season review is hard to determine. All clubs have played 10 matches but as Covid has intervened for the second time - five rounds have disappeared from the original 20 round season. As far as we know the season will not to resume any earlier than round 17 on 31 July.more

JAI LIVING OUT HIS DREAM

After playing for Poowong in a 1st semi-final loss in 2019 and six matches in the VFL with Box Hill this season Jai Newcombe was selected by Hawthorn in the 2021 AFL mid-season draft and made his AFL debut against Sydney on the 11th June this year. He has since gone on the play against Essendon, GWS and last week Port Adelaide.more

TOP PERFORMANCE BY EDFL U/16S IN EVANS PETROLEUM CUP

The EDFL U/16s performed very well in the Gippsland Junior Carnival on Wednesday winning two of its three matches. In its opening game the EDFL defeated Alberton by 11 points. In game two it went down by 8 points to the perennial favourites Gippsland and in its final match finished strongly beating Mid-Gippsland by 55 points.more
