Healthy Eating
Healthy eating is important your health. The Australian healthy food guidelines are simple to follow:
· Eat plenty of fruit, vegetables, breads and grains and drink plenty of water;
· Eat moderate amounts of animal based foods such as dairy products, lean meat, poultry, fish and eggs;
· Try to eat minimal amounts of fats, oils and sugars.
Some practical suggestions:
· Eat a variety of vegetables every day, such as:
o Dark green (spinach and broccoli);
o Orange (carrots, sweet potato, pumpkin);
o Salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumber and capsicum);
o Starchy (potato, sweet potato, corn).
· Eat a wide variety of fruit each week
· Go for 2 serves of fruit and 5 serves of vegetables every day!
