3rd Annual Dynasty Summer Camp 2011 in Full

After running three weekly day camps, the 3rd Annual Dynasty Summer Basketball Camp 2011 which is both Day & Boarding did give Dynasty Basketball and its staff and coaches the needed encouragement and fire power to complete the 8 weeks of basketball camps scheduled for Summer 2011. This year's annual Summer Basketball Camp had a new feel and system to it. More of an upgrade of the previous two years which were both successful in their
own ways.

One of the new feels to this years camp was the venue which for the first time in two years was not Lincoln Community School but rather the new high standard sports facility complex in Ghana,The Lizzy Sports Complex located in East-legon near the A&C Shopping Mall. Many of the returning campers and new campers upon hearing of the change of venue were skeptical about their experience this year as the venue had been one of the ingredients in marketing the camp asides the great coaching and guidance offered by Dynasty Basketball Association .Boarding campers arriving at the T.F Hostel a day before camp officially started was another addition to this years camp thus making it seven days for boarders.Boarding campers settled in well on their first day which was on Sunday 31st July 2011.

First night for the boarding campers was "the Survival night" as campers found their rooms without curtains and their beds without sheets. Those who came with a survival mind came prepared with their own bed sheets and sleeping cloth. It was much obvious that returning campers came prepared with their previous camp experience. New campers were caught by surprise but were guided and helped through the night. They smiled the next night when they found their rooms dressed with curtains and bed sheets.

Camp officially started on the 1st August 2011 at the Lizzy Sports Complex for the Day Campers who were joined by the boarding campers when they arrived at the training complex aboard the camp shuttle bus. After going through registeration and signups action on the court started with campers grouped according to their age groups then taken through the Dynasty Hospital as they were diagnosed of their basketball skills deficiencies. Stations for this years camp was the same as always but this time campers were not alone during the video session as they were joined by their fellow soccer campers participating in the Lizzy sports complex Milo Soccer Camp .With the current unstable academic calender of the Ghana Education Service many of the kids who had planned and booked to attend this years camp couldn't make it as many schools were still in session through out the camp period hence the numbers for this years Annual Camp was affected. From 45 in 2011 to 28 in 2011. Nevertheless the numbers didn't take anything away from the camp experience which has always been bigger and better each year. Campers improved their skills and knowledge of the game as well as their journey as student athletes.

On the fourth day of camp back at the camp hostel, campers were taken through the newly added station which is the Dynasty Student Athlete Guidance Station. During the Student Athlete Guidance Station campers were enlightened on who a student athlete is and the do's and donts of a student athlete as well as tips on how to become a successful student athlete. Campers were treated to a surprise guest speaker a world apart in the United States of America in the person of Nana Yaw Sapon-Amoah also known by many in Ghana as " Alimo". Nana Yaw Sapon-Amoah was the first basketball student athlete to benefit from Dynasty's network of foreign partners, as he was scouted and recruited in 2009 to school and play basketball in the USA after a one day Dynasty Exhibition Game which was in direct partnership with Right to Dream Ghana and Kingdom Hoops USA.
Nana-Yaw Sapon Amoah shared his experience and knowledge as a Student Athlete in Ghana and in the USA and the challenges and opportunities that it comes with. But most importantly our young guest speaker interracted with the campers who asked questions on issues concerning them as student athletes.

Friday was the 5th DAy of the Annual Camp , campers didn't want the experience to end and couldn't help but share their views on how they wish the Annual Camp period could be extended atleast a week more. Campers bonded on and off the basketball court most part of which happened during Team Building Games each Day. The bonding and experience was different for both boarding and day campers as this year Dynasty added various evening activities for the boarding campers. One of which took place on friday night as boarding campers were treated to a night out at the Newly established Marvels Mini Golf Club located at Ablenkpe where they had fun together doing something away from basketball, playing mini-golf with each other.

Camp Challenge and Tournament Day stared on Friday through to Saturday 6th August 2011 which also happened to be the last day of  camp. Both Days were rainy days but the rain couldn't stop campers from enjoying the fun and competitive activites. Challenge Day was made up of the Dynasty Fitness & Skills Challenge which saw campers challeng themselves as well as each other in replicated versions of the NBA's Fitness and Skills Challenges. Tournament day on Saturday stared with few rain showers which delayed the 3on3 tournament by an hour but that was soon forgotten as the games begun with U14 then the U16 & U20 3on3 games respectively. It was followed by the 5on5 games which was a great delight to watch as campers displayed many of the skills they had learnt and perfected through out the camp. The All-Star game had to ended abruptly when it started to rain after both teams dassled parents and coaches with two quick baskets at each end of the court.

2011 Annual Dynasty Basketball Camp had come to an end so  quickly and campers have to go back to their various homes, schools and communities to implement the knowledge they have acquired at Dynasty's Annual Camp 2011 and share their Dynasty experience and impact their world. The great news is that Dynasty Summer Camps doesn't end with the Annual Camp as Dynasty is running seven Day Camps in collaboration with Lizzy Sports Complex till 2nd of September 2011. This years Annual Dynasty Summer Basketball Camp 2011 was supported by Lizzy Sports Complex and a couple of parents who wish to remain ananymous and most importantly made possible by all Coaches,Staff and Volunteers of Dynasty Basketball Association.
Dynasty Basketball Association " Playing on a strong foundation". God continue to lead the way.
