Unfortunately the Canterbury Sports Foundation is unable to support all of the funding applications that are received. If the Foundation is unable to provide funding assistance to you directly, the Foundation encourages you to consider seeking funding from the other sources listed below (click on the title to link to the relevant website for further information):
Christchurch City Council Community Youth Board Development Fund
Each year the Council's Community Boards set aside an amount of money to fund young people in their local community. Under this scheme, the Community Boards will consider applications for a variety of activities. There are two streams of this funding that are relevant to young sportspeople:
- Representation at Events - Applicants can apply for assistance if you have been selected to represent your school, team or community at a local, national or international event. This includes sporting, cultural and community events.
- Recreation Development - Assistance to attend or take part in one off or ongoing recreational events or participation at recreation or sporting development. For example representing Canterbury at rugby or advanced ballet classes in Wellington.
Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC) Rural Travel Fund
To assist the development of junior sport in rural communities by providing a travel subsidy in instances where teams must travel to engage in organised sport, the SPARC Rural Travel Fund supports children aged 5 to 19 years who reside in eligible local territorial authorities that have a population of less than ten people per square kilometre.
