The Canterbury Sports Foundation is committed to providing financial assistance for emerging talented athletes within Canterbury. Athletes under the age of 19 years (as at closing date for each application round - June 30 or December 31) are invited to apply for a scholarship to support costs associated with their development as an athlete. Applications are invited twice a year, closing on June 30 and December 31.

In addition to the business sponsored scholarships awarded every six months, the Canterbury Sports Foundation also awards annually the Bernie Walker Memorial Fund scholarship. Applications for this scholarship close annually on December 31 and is awarded at the Canterbury Sports Foundation Annual General Meeting each year. Applicants must be under 19 years (as at December 31 in year of application). For further information, please view the criteria document below:

Any individual scholarship application to Canterbury Sports Foundation must be supported by an organisation or governing body who is a financial member of Canterbury Sports Foundation. Canterbury Sports Foundation reserve the right to turn down any application that is made by an individual based on the financial history of his / her governing organisation.
