Australian Under 14 Club Championships Update (Day 4)

Day four of the Under 14 Australian Club Championships saw two teams book a guaranteed top eight spot, but fall short of a semi-final berth.

At Kalamunda the boy’s action started off with Lakeside and Perry Lakes wrapping up their second round of games to determine where they would play in the Championship Division finals.

The Hawks were up first as they took on Illawarra Hawks, unfortunately the NSW version of the Hawks came out on top 63-44 despite 17 points from forward Gerrard Ansey.

The Lightning went down to a talented Dandenong Rangers outfit 66-49 with Rowan Mackenzie finishing with 17 points to lead the home side.

Despite both teams losses, they managed to finish second in their pools and book a spot in the quarter finals that night.

Lakeside drew Victorian powerhouse Melbourne Tigers in their game, despite a one point margin at half time the Tigers ran away with the game 56-28.

Perry Lakes drew the defending champions, Hills Hornets whose height and strength was too much for the Hawks. The Hornets controlled the game from start to move on to the semi-finals with a 62-320 victory.

The Hawks and Lightning now move on to the classification games for positions five to eight.

Rockingham and Willetton both enjoyed a rest day as they prepare for classification games for positions nine to twelve in the Shield Division.

In Morphett Vale over in South Australia the girls the Rockingham Flames made it through to the quarter finals of the Shield Division, while the Willetton Tigers enjoyed a day off and the Wolves wrapped up the first round of their Shield games.

The Wolves started the day with a 45-39 loss to North West Tasmania to round out their Shield Games. Karla Lawrence finished with 13 points for the Wolves.

The Flames finished second in their pool of the Shield Division and moved in to the quarter finals to face the Southern Districts Spartans. Unfortunately the Spartans came out on top 62-42, Ariana Hetherington and Olivia Lewis both finished with 12 points.

The Flames move into classification games for positions five to eight in the Shield, while the Wolves and Tigers will battle for positions nine to twelve, also in the Shield.

Rockingham vs. Sth Tas – Jr Chargers (4:30pm)

Both tournaments finish on Saturday with all WA teams playing to determine their final positions.
