Under 14 Boys National Club Championship - Day One
The Under 14 Boys National Club Championhships kicked off in Brisbane yesterday with mixed results for the teams from WA.
The Willetton Tigers had a great start defeating the NT Suns 97-7 with four players registering double-figure points. Corey Shervill top scored with 24 to ensure his side got off to a perfect start before their second game of the day against the strong Knox Raiders.
The Tigers went in with a lot of confidence and defeated the Victorian outfit 68-52 with Matthew Foster (22) and Corey Davis (20) leading the way.
The Wanneroo Wolves had a close game on day one, going down to Altona Gators 65-57. Mitchell McKenna led the way for the Wolves with 28 points.
The Perry Lakes Hawks faced a strong Sturt outfit on day one and with four Sturt players registering double figures, the Hawks went down 75-39. Benjamin Durbidge (14) and Cooper Hamilton (12) led the way for the Hawks.
Todays games see the Tigers tackle Logan in their final game in Pool A, a win will see them go into the top half of the draw on Wednesday. Pery Lakes will play their double-header today with games against Newcastle & Brisbane while the Wolves will also face a double-header against Townsille Heat & Bankstown Bruins.
