UNDERA v AVENEL
Undera’s improvement will face another stern test when it confronts the ladder leader and reigning premier Avenel today.
Coach Kate Murphy would have been pleased to see the response from her team after a surprise loss to Murchison-Toolamba a fortnight ago.
While the Lions didn’t get the four points against last year’s runner-up they were very competitive only losing by 10 goals.
Murphy has set the standards high for her team and she will know where her team sits in the pecking order after today’s match.
The Swans have been simply brilliant this season.
Despite some key departures to the team that captured last year’s premiership and some injuries to key players, they haven’t put a foot wrong and I expect them to add another four points to their tally.
Tip: Avenel.
TALLYGAROOPNA v VIOLET TOWN
Tallygaroopna will be out to consolidate its place in the top echelon of teams when it hosts the sixth placed Violet Town today.
The Lions are clinging onto its place inside the top six despite a last round defeat to Merrigum.
This game presents a real opportunity for Violet Town to test itself against one of the best teams and protect its place on the ladder.
Tip: Tallygaroopna
RUSHWORTH v NAGAMBIE
Nagambie is firmly entrenched inside the top two and coach, Abby Misti knows how important it will be to occupy that position at the end of the home and away season.
The Lakers have been outstanding after an opening day defeat to Avenel.
They have won every game since and they are really starting to play some strong netball.
Rushworth has really improved this season with three wins and a draw so far.
The Tiger girls will be eager to bounce back after they were defeated by the in-form Murchison-Toolamba last weekend.
The priority for the Tigers is to play four consistent quarters to test the Lakers.
Tip: Nagambie.
ARDMONA v MERRIGUM
Merrigum faces a must win when it takes on the 11th placed Ardmona.
The Bulldog girls have been in some good form of late, winning two of their past three.
Coach Katie Cordingley will be eager to see how her team responds to the 20 goal loss suffered against Tallygaroopna while the Cats are attempting to get their first win since April 22.
A win for Merrigum could elevate them into the top six if other results fall in their favour.
Tip: Merrigum.
GIRGARRE v MURCHISON-TOOLAMBA
After a shaky opening month to start the season, Murchison-Toolamba has bounced back in style to be well and truly in finals calculations.
Alice Cunningham has led the team brilliantly in the past month, claiming four straight wins, including the scalp of the in-form Undera.
This is a game that the team must win if it wishes to play finals.
Girgarre has really struggled this season for victories, only defeating Longwood a month ago and it will find Murchison-Toolamba too hot to handle despite home court advantage.
Tip: Murchison-Toolamba.
LONGWOOD v STANHOPE
Stanhope has a golden opportunity to record two successive wins when it takes on Longwood.
The Lions were absolutely outstanding in their demolition of Ardmona last round and they will be keen to bank another four points and climb up the ladder.
Longwood has shown glimpses of good form, but it may struggle to combat the visiting Lions.
Tip: Stanhope
