VIOLET TOWN v MERRIGUM
Violet Town returned to the winners’ circle after holding on for a character building win against Stanhope.
It is a team the Lions have struggled to combat over the years and to able to respond after losses to Avenel and Nagambie shows they have the capabilities within their squad.
This shapes as another big game for the Lions in their bid to stay inside the top six while the Bulldogs will be eager to back-up their big win over Stanhope before the interleague bye.
Tip: Violet Town.
UNDERA v MURCHISON-TOOLAMBA
Undera has been one of the surprise packets of the season. After a number of years out of the finals, the Lions are well and truly on track to be involved in the September action.
Coach Kate Murphy has done extraordinary job in instilling confidence and belief in this group of girls.
Her efforts in defence have made a big difference while the recent inclusion of premiership player Amanda Gledhill has given the team another experienced head through the mid-court.
There is no doubt the Lions will go in thinking they can win this contest despite the visitors coming into the challenge off the back of a big win against Longwood.
Tip: Undera.
RUSHWORTH v LANCASTER
Rushworth has been another of those teams which have proven a surprise packet.
The Tigers have had some really good wins this season.
The return of some familiar faces has certainly made a big difference while on the other hand Lancaster is rebuilding having lost a number of players from its starting seven of last year.
This has meant that the Wombats have promoted some of their talented youngsters, with an eye to the future.
Tip: Rushworth.
TALLYGAROOPNA v STANHOPE
One of the premiership fancies has a job on its hand to regain the early season mojo it had to help them to a perfect start to open the new season.
The last fortnight has seen Tallygaroopna beaten by last year’s grand finalists and the premier.
Julie Telford would have been bitterly disappointed that her girls missed an opportunity to make a statement against the premier.
Stanhope has been right in its last two outings, only to fall by one goal to Merrigum and two goals to Violet Town.
Coach, Kerrie Gray knows there is going to be ups and downs with the team this year, but she would be pleased with the effort and endeavour of her young team.
This promises to be a huge challenge for her girls, but one they won’t shy away from.
Tip: Tallygaroopna.
ARDMONA v AVENEL
Avenel will be chasing a sixth straight win to keep it at the top of the pile when it takes on Ardmona.
Ardmona has been competitive in most of its matches this season, but this will be a huge challenge against the league’s best team.
Despite not having the services of Kath Hard on a regular basis, the Swans are proving a formidable outfit.
Tip: Avenel.
LONGWOOD v NAGAMBIE
Nagambie will be chasing a fifth straight win after starting the 2017 season with a loss to arch rival and premier Avenel.
The Lakers have gradually been getting better with each hit out.
There is no doubt there best performance was before the interleague bye when they travelled and accounted for Tallygaroopna.
Abby Misti will be warning her players to stick to the game plan and not allow Longwood any opportunity to control the match.
Longwood has had some competitive matches this year, but this will be a huge challenge for them even on their home deck.
Tip: Nagambie.
