Ardmona and Murchison do battle in what shapes as the match of the round.
The Grasshoppers have made the perfect start under new coach Phil Bryant, defeating last year’s finalist Merrigum before backing up to produce a strong 30 goal win against Longwood.
The Cats have enjoyed mixed fortunes under the guidance of Andrea Woodward.
They defeated Undera in a tough four quarter battle in the season opener before copping a netball lesson against last year’s runner-up.
Expect this to be a see-sawing affair and it will be vitally important for both teams to make their most of their opportunities when they have the momentum.
Getting off to a good start could also prove decisive to determining the winner of this contest.
The Grasshoppers coach said early wins could make the difference in the latter part of the season.
“Winning early games also helps build confidence in each other and momentum for tougher challenges to come in the coming rounds,” he said.
The other match of interest will be the match-up between the ever consistent Stanhope and Violet Town.
The Towners’ were able to handle the teams in and around on the ladder, but where they fell down in 2015 was against all the higher ranked teams.
They will be eager to right that wrong and will the addition of some new faces, coach Pip O’Donoghue will be hoping they can play finals.
But to do so they must take down teams like the Kerrie Gray led Lions.
Stanhope come into the contest on the back of a huge win against Lancaster last week to go into this match at 1-1 – the same as Violet Town after they lost to Avenel.
Merrigum was able to get on the board after overcoming Rushworth last week.
After a first up loss to Murchison, the Bulldogs face a tough challenge against the unbeaten Avenel.
The Swans have been very professional and decisive in brushing aside both Stanhope and Violet Town to start the year.
I expect them to be far too strong for Merrigum.
In the other matches, Longwood and Rushworth will be chasing their first win of the season when they do battle, Tallygaroopna will be too strong for Girgarre and the reigning premier Nagambie host Undera looking to make it two wins in a row after defeating Girgarre last start.
My tips: Nagambie, Tallygaroopna, Rushworth, Avenel, Stanhope and Murchison.
