MURCHISON v VIOLET TOWN
With the top six not likely to change, this game between seventh and ninth provides both coaches with the opportunity to try different combinations as planning begins for 2016.
Violet Town can still mathematically play finals, but with games against Nagambie and Tallygaroopna to come it would need to win both of those and rely on Merrigum dropping a game or two.
Merrigum has a favourable draw to end the home and away season on, with three matches against teams in the bottom half of the ladder.
Violet Town’s playing group is still ruing the one that got away against Stanhope a few weeks ago when it looked like it was going to win only to finish a draw.
Murchison has had a tough few weeks, having only defeated Undera two rounds ago.
It pushed Stanhope for periods of last week’s game and Kathryn Ferguson will be urging her girls for a big effort in an attempt to add its sixth win of the season.
The playing depth of Violet Town tips the scales in its favour to the take the four points.
OTHERS
Ardmona has an improved season and Andrew Woodward with the help of Tracey Hardie, have been responsible for the team enjoying more wins this year.
The Cats have won seven games and will be aiming to end the year on a high and with a couple more wins.
Today’s task will be tough against a Lancaster outfit which is starting to put the foot to the pedal as we get closer to the business end of the season.
The Wombats are building nicely in their quest for back-to-back titles and they should be too strong for whatever the Cats can dish up today.
In the other matches, Tallygaroopna should get the points against Undera, Avenel will continue on its winning ways at Longwood and Merrigum should take another step closer to locking itself into that sixth place on the ladder.
My tips: Avenel, Merrigum, Tallygaroopna, Lancaster and Violet Town.
