Eventful year over for first-year EagleWEST Coast rookie Adam Cockie has most certainly played his last game of football this year after undergoing surgery to fix a broken bone.
Cockie (pictured) broke his collarbone playing for Subiaco in the WAFL, which means the 20-year-old could also be unavailable for the Lions' assault on a fourth-straight WAFL premiership.
The season-ending surgery brings to a close an up and down AFL debut year for Cockie, son of former South Fremantle player, Michael.
The Eagles' second-round selection in the 2008 rookie draft was elevated to the senior list and made his debut in the fiery furnace of a Western Derby in Round 6. Cockie played the next three games but was demoted back to the rookie list after Round 9's match against Collingwood.
Cockie has since been promoted back up to the senior list and added three more games where he's averaged 12 disposals. Perhaps his best game was his last, against Port Adelaide where he accumulated 14 disposals.
A hard-runner, Cockie can lay a tackle, putting the clamps on Melbourne players 11 times in Round 14.
