Magpie, Swan add 15th and 16th nominationsMAGPIE magician Leon Davis is planning to kick a AFL Goal of the Year contender every round until the finals. Not really. But one could be excused for thinking that after the born-again midfielder electrified the Collingwood faithful yet again with another cracker from, you guessed it, right on the boundary.
Davis set last Saturday night’s MCG crowd alight with an instinctive snap after receiving a handball from a team-mate in the match against Brisbane early in the third quarter. The Magpies were trailing the Lions by seven points at that stage but launched their comeback to win that game from that point forward.
Sydney's Adam Goodes is also in contention after his second-quarter special in Saturday night's pulsating match against St Kilda.
Goodes was outnumbered in a marking contest on a half-forward flank but gathered the loose ball, fended off a lunging opponent and curled a banana through the big sticks from 40 metres out. That goal also drew the Swans level with the Saints, which won the game by a solitary point to keep their perfect season, now at 18-0, intact.
