Bulldogs skipper in some fine formSOUTH Fremantle veteran Toby McGrath's superb form for the Bulldogs has been rewarded with a call up to the WA side that will play South Australia in Perth next Saturday.
McGrath (pictured), who has played 170 WAFL games, led the Sandgropers to a relatively untroubled win over Queensland in Townsville last year. His invaluable experience will be called on against much tougher opposition.
"We think his form's been really good of late and I reckon he's got some real energy and buzz about his footy at the moment," WA assistant coach Shane Woewodin said. "He just brings that extra quality of player and a bit of leadership. He's very much experienced, a hardened body to play against a very good outfit."
The WAFL's 2005 Sandover (fairest-and-best) and Simpson Medal (best-on-ground in the grand final) winner McGrath joins Indigenous footballers former AFL star Jeff Farmer and youngster Lewis Jetta in the WA squad of 35. That will be cut back to 23 after next week's final training session.
