Anzac Day fixture shceduled for Marrara OvalNT THUNDER's first month in Queensland football will take another twist on Saturday night when they host Mt Gravatt, the club of one of the Territory's favourite sons, and one-time Thunder target marquee player, Darryl White.
Coming off a reality check in the form of an 88-point defeat at the hands of Brisbane Lions (the AFL club's QAFL feeder side), the Thunder will clash with the undefeated Vultures, which is sitting atop the QAFL ladder, at Marrara Oval.
AFL triple premiership player White was targetted to become one of the new clubs' key players but he opted to stay at Mt Gravatt, with which he has won premierships in Queensland since his retirement forom the AFL.
The Thunder's second home game will also see the debuts of several Indigenous players in the local team: Kenny Morton, Damien Roe, Phillip Wills, Deon Gordon and Marty Smith all coming into the side. Gordon will actually become the youngest player to line up for the Thunder.
Thunder on TVQUEENSLAND football will get a run on TV each Friday night and the NT Thunder will be first cab off the rank.
The QAFL Footy Show will screen on Foxtel's (and Austar's) Main Event Channel (518) each Friday night at 6pm (although this week's show will be on at 6.30pm -- check local guides).
The show will recap the week's events in Queensland and will replay the best quarter of football from a designated game from the previous week.
This week's replay will be the Thunder v Brisbane Lions clash.
The show will be viewable throughout Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT . Unfortunately for the Thunder's NT-based fans, the QAFL Footy Show is not shown in the Northern Territory or 'southern states' because those regions take the live AFL telecast of Friday night football on free-to-air television.
