A PLAN to reunite players from an Aboriginal football carnival in Perth 22 years ago needs a kickstart along.
Photos of four teams from a carnival that was played in September 1987 in the Perth suburb of Belmont have resurfaced and Nyoongar community leader Trevor Walley, who was in one of the teams, wouldn't mind having another run with his brothers.
"The photos resurfaced recently and I'm hoping that during NAIDOC Week we can all get these legends together and have a game of footy again," he said. "But I'm hoping someone out there can find some of these fellas and track them down and take charge of it."
Walley, pictured here in 1987, at back, said the game was played at Belmont Oval. He doesn't remember his team's name (the ones in black and white jumpers) but he does recall his team's captain was Danny Ford (in his team photo at far right, front row).
The four photos -- which can be viewed in full in our Photo Gallery -- are all dated September 12, 1987.
If you have any information which can help identify the people and the teams in the photos, call Trevor on 0439-92-1234 or email him at
