St Mary's crush Wanderers' fairytale runTHE Northern Territory football juggernaut that is St Mary's rolled on to another premiership on Saturday night with a 64-point drubbing of Wanderers at Marrara Oval.
The Saints confirmed their standing as the NT's leading football club, claiming their 27th senior premiership -- and back-to-back flags -- with a commanding 22.13 (145) to 11.15 (81) victory over the Eagles. The premiership was also the club's 100th over all grade levels.
Wanderers' 2003/04 Nichols medallist Tim Karpany got the Eagles on the board with the game's first goal, but from there it was all the Saints. St Mary's led by three goals at quarter-time, six at half-time and six at three-quarter time.
Saints small forward Nicholas Daniels-Heenan threw himself into contests in the forward 50 to negate the opposition defence. Territory Thunder signing Relton Roberts shone for Wanderers as did captain Shannon Motlop.
