Australia lose series to Ireland
DESPITE some final-quarter heroics, including a Shaun Burgoyne six-pointer, Ireland held on to win the Second Test in Melbourne at the weekend to take the series 2-0, its first series win in Australia since 2001.
The match, in front of almost 43,000 people at the MCG, came alive in the final term when Australia rallied and got within four points in time-on.
The series is set to continue in Ireland next year, coinciding with Gaelic football’s 125th year anniversary.
