Footballers feeling the brunt as clubs look to replenish stocks
AFL clubs aren't holding back with the axe ahead of the last 'uncompromised' draft before the new Gold Coast club comes in with its priority selections next year.
Rookies, fringe players and even 300-gamers like Scott West have felt the brunt of clubs culling their lists ahead of next month's national draft where rich pickings await.
Earlier today, St Kilda said good-bye to seven players on its list.
And Aboriginal footballers haven't been spared with Adelaide this week cutting rookie Ed Curnow. Carlton have let Clinton Benjamin go, Geelong have done likewise with Liam Bedford and North Melbourne have ended their five-year association with Eddie Sansbury.
The four join Chris Egan (Collingwood), Dean Dick (Essendon), Calib Mourish (Fremantle) and Isaac Weetra (Melbourne), alongside sole retiree Jeff Farmer (Fremantle), as those now seemingly out of favour with AFL clubs.
In somewhat better news, Adelaide have elevated rookie Jared Petrenko to the senior list, as have Hawthorn with Cameron Stokes and Essendon with Jarrod Atkinson.
