Roosters team-mates win VFL premiership
NORTH Ballarat pair Eddie Sansbury and Brett Goodes have played influential roles in guiding their side to the VFL premiership last night over Port Melbourne at the Telstra Dome by 45 points.
The Roosters dominated the second half to claim their first VFL flag, 18.12 (109) to 11.9 (75).
Goodes, younger brother of Swans star, Adam, battled on admirably despite an apparent back injury and was prominent in the second and third quarters to set up several forays forward.
Sansbury, a North Melbourne-listed player, provided good rebound from a half-back flank when the games was on the line.
Cruize Garlett, on North's rookie list, had a few nice patches of play and snapped a clever goal in the first quarter to get things rolling for the Roosters.
Four points up at the main break, the Roosters skipped away to an 18-point lead by three-quarter time to eventually run away with it.
There was little Cory McGrath, one of the Boroughs' best, could do, despite his 25 possessions in the middle and half-back.
Team-mate Jonno Mullins was lively for Port Melbourne with two goals.
