FORMER Saints, Brisbane utility to decide on AFL Grand Final's best player
GILBERT McADAM played football like he had all the time in the world.
The former utility played the game seemingly unrushed and unhurried in all his 111 AFL appearances for St Kilda and Brisbane from 1991-1996, and in 100-plus more before then for Central District (SANFL), Claremont (WAFL) and Southern Districts (NTFL).
McAdam will now use that clear thinking to make his choice for the Norm Smith Medal in the AFL Grand Final on Saturday after accepting a spot on the five-person voting panel for the game's best player.
The only Aboriginal player to win the SANFL's Margery Medal, McAdam tonight revealed on the Marn Grook Footy Show his selection on the panel.
McAdam was informed by the AFL yesterday of his selection and the panel was to be revealed tomorrow but with his media commitments on the Indigenous TV show, he was granted permission to reveal it tonight.
Panellists vote on a 3, 2, 1 basis and cast their votes independently of each other.
