MT GRAVATT may well ask for a repeat 10-goal performance from evergreen Darryl White when the Vultures host strugglers Labrador in the penultimate round of the AFL Queensland State League (AFLQSL) tomorrow.
The three-time AFL premiership player White put in a vintage display for his side booting 10 goals and taking a contender for mark of the year against Redland last weekend.
Defending premiers Mt Gravatt look sure things to claim the minor premiership a fortnight out from the finals. Their big win over the Bombers, with White's haul more in points than that of the hapless Redland, ensured the Vultures remain clear on top of the league ladder ahead of Southport.
White's contribution to Mt Gravatt has been significant since his retirement from the AFL at the end of the 2005 season.
The Indigenous Team of the Century defender has continued with football and has had a remarkable run of premierships in Queensland and in his native Northern Territory in the 'off' season.
He won a flag with Darwin in the Buffaloes' drought-breaking 2005/06 premiership, and added another Top End title when he crossed to Southern Districts in 2006/07.
Last year, he played a key role in the Vultures' premiership win over Southport.
In February, White stepped back in time and donned the famous green and gold of his junior club Pioneer in Alice Springs to celebrate the Eagels' 60th anniversary in style.
The veteran booted 11 goals in his one-off appearance for the AFL Central Australia side against Federal.
The cameo was the first time in 16 years White has played for the Eagles, from where he was recruited by the Brisbane Bears.
