BRENNAN STACK will be hoping to build on his career-best five-goal haul that enabled Perth to claim the inaugural Cable-Michael Cup over South Fremantle.
The one-time Western Bulldog (pictured) kicked his fifth goal, and the final of the match, that saw the Demons record a resounding 34-point win over the Bulldogs club to claim the inaugural Cable-Michael Cup to complete NAIDOC Round in the WAFL.
The morale-boosting win gives the Demons much-needed breathing space away from the wooden-spoon, Perth now sixth on the league ladder.
In contrast, the once high-flying Bulldogs are now second-last with just three wins this season to stand alongside perenniel struggles Peel at the foot of the WAFL ladder.
The cup match is named after two of WA's greatest Indigenous players, Barry Cable and Stephen Michael, who played for both clubs across the 1960s, '70s and '80s.
Cable was recently elevated to Legend status in the AFL and Michael was named in the AFL Hall of Fame. Both are members of the AFL's Indigenous Team of the Century (1904-2004).
The match was Stack's ninth this season at league level for the Demons. His output is gradually increasing and he is beginning to gain respectable averages in the possession count.
Back in the WAFL this year after five years in the AFL, Stack's stats are stacking up: 15 goals from almost 30 shots on goals in nine league games points to a forward role the 24-year-old is growing comfortable with.
The 2009 Indigenous All-Star joined the AFL's Bulldogs from the Demons at the 2006 national draft, No.45 overall.
In total, Stack played 21 games during his time at the club which played in three consecutive preliminary finals in 2008, '09, '10.
