ZILMERE Eagles player Ally Anderson has been named in the Under 18 Girls All-Australian team, making her the first Indigenous Queenslander to be selected.
Ally was chosen at half-back for the team following a standout performance at the recent 2012 AFL Under 18 Youth Girls National Championships in Adelaide.
AFL Queensland female programs manager Julia Price said that 18-year-old Ally was the surprise package during the tournament as she has only been playing AFL for two years.
"Ally showed great form in the club lead up games and we knew she would be a crucial part to Queensland’s defensive line," said Price.

"Her performances throughout the tournament were outstanding and we knew she was a big chance for All-Australian selection.
"Ally is not only a great role model for Indigenous girls but all girls wishing to pursue football as their sport of choice."
The Queensland’s team were runners-up to Victoria at the championships, the best ever finish at a Division 1 national championships for either a male or female Queensland side.
The final was played at AAMI Stadium after the Port Adelaide v North Melbourne game which was a special moment for the girls.
