SEVERAL teenagers from Western Australia's two championship-winning KickStart teams are in line to play for their State in July.
The young footballers will have the chance to wear the black and gold of WA after gaining selection as the WA State Talent Academy's first and second intakes for the AFL's national under-16s and -18s squads.
It follows from their impressive football, and conduct, at last month's second and last year's first KickStart championships.
The selections are part of the WA State Talent Academy's first and second intakes for the respective State 16s and 18s squads.
Among those in line are last year's championships, and WA's, MVP Jarrod Pickett, Jermaine Miller-Lewis, who was dominant for the Sandgropers, and Dayle Garlett.
WA's other Aboriginal players are involved in their respective WAFL clubs' Colts (under-18s) sides.
The boys will continue with the academy's training program at the WACA Ground in Perth in the lead up to the national championships where it will also conduct leadership, nutrition and education sessions to enhance the overall development of players.
As well, the academy's squad will play a series of trial games against Rising Stars and Colts teams from the WAFL, WA Amateur Football League and South West Football League before the final teams are selected to represent WA at the State 16s and 18s national championships in Sydney in July.

1st intake: Jamahl Bedford (Claremont), Christopher Yarran (Perth), Shaquille McKenzie (East Perth), Marvin Warrell (South Fremantle), Josh Simpson (East Fremantle), Dylan Loo (Perth), Shannon Taylor (Claremont), Herman Humphries (SD), Jack Martin (CFC). 2nd intake: Dayle Garlett (Swan Districts).
WA State 16s
1st intake: Aaron Birch (Claremont), Jarrod Garlett (South Fremantle), Jermaine Miller-Lewis (South Fremantle), Clem Smith (Perth). 2nd intake: Jarrod Pickett (South Fremantle).
