TWENTY-five Indigenous youth will fly to Fiji in December to play teams from the Oceania region in Australian football.
The Flying Boomerangs is an AFL Indigenous youth football program with personal development and leadership its key objectives, and which springs from the successful KickStart program.
It is a virtual Australian football international team which has played several times against South Africa and Papua New Guinea, which was the first team to inflict defeat upon the Boomerangs.
The tour to Fiji will see them play against several Oceania teams.
The initial squad list is 30, however the final playing group to Fiji will be 25 with five listed as emergencies in case players are unable to secure passports, consent forms and medical checks before departure.
The squad was selected from last month’s inaugural national Indigenous youth championships on the Gold Coast, which was won by Western Australia.
As expected, WA has provided the bulk of the squad with 11, with runners-up Queensland sending three players.
Combined sides Victoria/Tasmania and NSW/ACT have provided eight players, South Australia five and the Northern Territory three.
The squad:
NSW/ACT: Jordan Etto, Kuiam Anu, Abaina Davis.

Queensland: Joel Hagan, Isaac Rockeby, Zengray Nona.
South Australia: Jarrad Pitson, Michael Coombe, Reece Hocking, Tyler McKenzie, Peter Von-Heytmanek.
