QUEENSLANDER Albert Proud's stellar year with Mt Gravatt has been capped with selection in his league's team of the year.
The one-time Brisbane Lion (pictured) has turned his football fortunes around after being punted by the AFL club in February after an off-field misdemeanour one too many.
Since re-joining the Vultures (his original club) in the NEAFL (Northern Conference) Proud has led from the front.
Proud's on-field leadership, in play and in spirit, together with his AFL experience, has been an invaluable asset at the club.
He captained Queensland against Western Australia mid-season in Mandurah in which the Maroons came within a solitary goal of causing a major upset.
Mt Gravatt is in the hunt for the premiership and will play in this weekend's preliminary final against Morningside for another crack at NT Thunder to whom the Vultures lost in last week's second semi-final.
Mt Gravatt played in and lost the 2009 grand final.
This week's selection is Proud's second such selection in the Queensland-based competition's team of the year; his first came in 2008.
All 10 NEAFL (NC) clubs were represented this year.
NT Thunder's Ross Tungatalum, the league's 2011 Rising Star award-winner, joins Proud in the team.
