ABORIGINAL country footballers from South Australia and Western Australia will clash in their very own 'Showdown' in Adelaide on Sunday.
The two States will play for the inaugural Country Challenge Cup at AAMI Stadium.
The game will be the curtain-raiser to the Adelaide-Port Adelaide round 19 AFL match, Showdown XXXI.
Former Hawthorn player Harry Miller and 2008 Mail Medal winner Waylon Johncock will line up for the Croweaters while WA's Glen Garlett (Carey Park) will suit up for the Sandgropers.
Miller, from Mallee Park Football Club, and Johncock, from Konnibba Football Club, starred for Western Zone at the SA country championships earlier this month.
The pair's efforts throughout the carnival earned them selection in the SA Country team.
Western defeated the strong Murray South East team in the final by 31 points to claim its first country championship title since 1999.
Garlett, 21, was part of the strong South West Football League side that dominated the recent WA country championships and which won the A Section title.
The WA side has 13 players who have played in the WAFL with 19 in total originally from the country. And eight players represented WA at last year's national country championships.
SA and WA will play for the Country Challenge Cup every two years.
