DAYLE GARLETT used his damaging left-foot kicks to slice through the Tasmanian defence to help guide Western Australia to an emphatic 87-point win in round 2 of the AFL Under-18 Championships at Subiaco Oval at the weekend.
Dayle gathered 28 quality possessions in the Sandgropers' 17.13 (115) to 4.4 (28) win.
The game was the curtain-raiser to the AFL's Fremantle-v-Essendon match on Sunday.
The 17-year-old, cousin to Carlton's Jeff Garlett, made his WAFL debut at league level with Swan Districts this season for two games after having come through the club's junior ranks.
Dayle (pictured) used his lethal left boot to leave the Tassie backline floundering, cutting through the forward 50 on 10 occasions to help set up the win.
Countryman Christopher Yarran also starred with the ball, booting five goals.
Because the boys are too young, they are ineligible for this year's AFL's national draft but, with the GWS Giants entering the league in 2012, under-age players can enter a one-off draft during the 2011 trade period and join an AFL club a year before they would otherwise be eligible.
The teenagers face their biggest test this weekend when WA plays Vic Metro at Subiaco in round 3 of the championships on Sunday.
The Vics defeated Queensland by 85 points in their last game.
