** BLAZE & HEAT INTO STATE LEAGUE SEMIS **

RE/MAX BLAZE

After a shattering 7 point away loss to Coffs Harbour (75 - 68) on Saturday night the girls thought their title dreams were over.  In a stunning turnaround the Blaze qualified for the semi-finals as the highest ranked loser from the qualifying finals series - a just reward for an outstanding season.

The Blaze will take on the tough Central Coast Crusaders who easily accounted for Newcastle on the weekend.  This game will tip-off at 11.30 am in Sutherland with the winner progressing to the final and the loser being eliminated.

Whilst in no doubt about the enormity of the challenge, the Blaze will enter this game in the knowledge that they have beaten Crusaders this season and that the Blaze have the ability and the game plan to win through this encounter.

The winner of the semi final will take on the winner of the Gouburn Bears v Coffs Harbour Suns semi.  The final will be played at 10.45 am on Sunday 9 August to decide the 2009 champion Women's SBL side.

RE/MAX HEAT

After a heart-stopping 1 point away win over Port Macquarie (71 - 70) on Saturday, the Heat will travel to Sutherland to take on arch-rivals the Griffith Demons in the Div 2 semi final at 5.30 pm 8 August.

Griffith have the upper hand over the Heat this season winning the home and away match series 2 - 1 and will enter this game as the favourites.  The Heat however, will have plenty to say about this as they have shown all season that when they click they are capable of great things.

The Heat have shown enormous character in their last 3 games to come from half time deficits and have been playing sudden death basketball now for the last month.  The boys will be ready to give their all as they chase the chance for a spot in the title decider on Sunday.

The winner will progress to the final at 11.15 am on Sunday 9 August to take on the winner of the Illawarra v Dubbo semi.

We wish both our teams the best of luck and urge them on to showcase the talent the WWBA possesses and to bring back the title banners!
