BLAZE START THE SEASON ON FIRE

The Remax Wagga Blaze had a strong win in the battle for top spot at the Incinerator on Saturday afternoon defeating the Power 73-43.

Playing without two major players, Shannon Byrne and Summa Stephens, the bench players found their time to shine. Tracy Seears coming off the bench to give Ash Hayllar a break hit a stunning 3 pointer. Apryl Geale also received some time contributing 11 points plus being awarded MVP for the match.

Hayllar top scored with 26 points followed by Caren Hugo with 15, Apryl Geale with 11 and Michelle Edmanson scoring 10 points. Laura Tibbetts also contributed with 6 points and Larissa Paull with 2.

 At the end of the first quarter it was all tied up with both teams on 17 points. But the Blaze broke away at half time with a 10 point lead 37-27.

Steph Brown, Amelia Pritchard and Georgia Tye all received some court time throughout the game giving the other girls a rest.

Next home game is Saturday 18 April. Remax Blaze take on Newcastle and the Remax Heat play the Griffith Demons. There are also home games on Sunday 19 April with the Blaze playing the Central Coast and the Heat take on Moss Vale Magic.
