Redbacks Move into Top-Four

The Perth Redbacks’ Men’s State Basketball League team had a dominant 127 to 88 away-game win against the Kalamunda Eastern-Suns.

This sees them move up one place to fourth in the 14-team competition with 11 wins and eight losses.

Centre Dennis Tawhiti was the Redbacks’ highest scorer with 27 at a field goal percentage of 82 along with six rebounds.

Power-forward Lee Roberts scored 26 and had 11 rebounds, six assists and five steals while small-forward Stan Okoye had 23 along with 12 rebounds and three steals.

The Redbacks’ women’s team lost 70 to 97 to the Suns.

Captain Jess Jakens was their top-scorer with 21 along with seven assists and six rebounds.

Shooting guard Gabby O’Sullivan was the Redbacks next highest scorer with 14 along with seven assists and six rebounds while point guard Monique Kickett scored 12 and had four rebounds and two assists.

The Redbacks women’s team has yet to secure a win after 16 games and is in 12th-place in the 12-team competition.

The action continues this Friday when the Redbacks takes on Lakeside Lightning at Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre with the women’s game tipping off at 6.30PM and the men’s game at 8.30PM.
