Stuart Budd New WSBL Coach
Stuart Budd has recently been appointed as the Women’s State Basketball League coach for the Bank of Queensland Redbacks.
He takes over from Narelle Henry, who retired as coach at the end of the 2013 State Basketball League season.
Stuart has recently been the under 18s Western Australian Basketball League coach and the women’s development coach for the Redbacks.
In his first year with the Redbacks in 2012 he coached the D-League Western Australian Basketball League team to a grand final win as well as being an assistant SBL coach.
Stuart has previously coached with the Wanneroo Wolves in different Western Australian Basketball League teams as well as being an assistant coach to the under 16 country men’s team in 2007.
He has also been a coach in the past in the NITC Programme for elite junior basketball talent.
Stuart says it will be a new look Redbacks WSBL in 2014 after the retirements of many of the senior players.
"I am looking forward to the many challenges that lay ahead with what will be a very youthful squad.
"We are not here to make up the numbers but to be a competitive team during the development phase as I, and the players, are keen to make our mark in this league," he said.
We are sure that all Redbacks’ fans will be right behind Stuart in taking over a team in the coming season and wish him all the best in this task.
