Western Australian Basketball League Wrap Round three

The Daimler Trucks’ Redbacks' Western Australian Basketball League under 14 men’s and women’s teams and the D-League women's team all continued their unbeaten streak and remain on top of their conference ladders with three wins and no losses.  This followed last weekend’s Western Australian Basketball League away-round fixture against the Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

The under 14s Lauren Thompson was the top-scorer of the Redbacks’ women with 23 while fellow under 14 Emily Nixon had 16, under 16 Keziah Bin Sali also had 16, under 15 Chloe Smith had 16 and under 16s Tegan Verren 13.

The D-League men’s Tim Rendulic was the highest scorer of the Redbacks’ men’s teams players with 26 followed by the under 16s Fraser Doyle with 19, under 14s Jordan Herbert with 18 along with the under 18 division one’s Latrell Matthews and Jack Wagner with 17 and 16 respectively.

The under 11s Development Squad had two games in the first of their junior carnivals. In their first game they had a narrow loss to the Rockingham Flames 16 to 23. William Thai had two, Chase Ridley four, Jack Jansen four and Oliver White six.

In their second game the under 11s Development Squad lost to the tough Willetton Tigers combination 20 to 35. Ethan Loveland scored four, Ryan Duke-Yonge one, River Denney two, Jack Jansen four and Matthew Jack Sisson nine.

The Daimler Trucks Redbacks under 12s men’s team lost to the Kalamunda Eastern Suns 30 to 45. Ethan Vilardi scored two, Jayden Yang 12, Mitchell Nixon two, Kai Haemori two, Tariq Muturi four and Nicholas Romeo eight. They are in fifth conference place out of six-teams with one win and two losses.

The under 12 women's team lost 25 to 49.  Tiana rigden scored four, Angel Webb 10, Chloe Miller two, Aaliyah Miller two, Jessica Brunning one, Latoyah Lawford four and Lulani Mitchell-Oehlers two. They have three losses and are in fifth conference place out of five-teams.

The under 13 men’s team won 50  to 49.  Tyrone Van Wees top scored with 15, Jacob Wilmot and Daniel Thi both had 8 points each. Izayah Riley had 7 points, Luke Schonemann contributed 6 points, Ethan Bergersen 4 points and Benjamin Goard chipped in with 2 points. They now have one win and two losses and are in fifth conference place.

The under 13 women’s team lost 30 to 50. Estella Penny scored six, Kira Todd eight, Kajanda Ninyette eight, Savahna Nevill four, Ella Mccaughan two and Abbey Chehab two. They have one win and two losses and are in fifth conference place.

The under 14 men remain on top of their six-team conference with three wins and no losses after their 61 to 47 win over the Suns. Jordan Rigden scored two, Jack Tognolini two, Kyle Bowen 10, Jordan Herbert 18, Orgil Battohtokh four, Beau Tuccio 11, Luke Simonette 12 and Jake Moralee two.

The under 14 women’s team also remains unbeaten and in top place in their six-team conference with three wins and no losses after their 61 to 44 win. Melissa Hughes had six, Alessia Arcaro-Humphreys four, Shelby Foster four, Emily Nixon 16, Lauren Thompson 23, Eloise Kon-Yu two and Sophie Pyne six.

The under 15 men have three losses and are in sixth-conference place after their 49 to 64 loss to the Suns. Bailey Wallam scored nine, Nicholas Pyne seven, Reece Hewitt 10, Joel Weir three, Todd Nosworthy two, Nazir Hashem 12 and Lachlan Strelein six.

The under 15 women lost 31 to 80. Tahlia McDonald scored two, Chloe Smith 15, Rachel Warren six, Abbey Thomas six and Angeleen Van Wees two. They are in third conference place with one win and two losses.

The under 16 men’s team had a strong 64 to 46 win. They are in fourth conference place with one win and two losses. Mark Santos had nine, Bradley Clarke six, Ibraham Soliman two, Adam Parora 12, Lucas Macente nine, Christopher Lee three, Fraser Doyle 19, Jared Pedersen two and Max Whately two.

The under 16 women’s team lost 73 to 86, leaving them in fourth conference place out of five-teams with no wins and two losses. Keziah Bin Sali scored 16, Clarice Antero two, Shannon Street 28, Tayla Naudi four, Samantha Brunning 10 and Tegan Verren 13.

The under 18 division two men’s team had a heartbreaking 72 to 73 loss to the Suns. Jeremy Fletcher scored eight, Timothy Lewis six, James Gauvin 10, Dion Street two, Jonathan Warren 11, Rhys Miller seven and Matthew Biletic five. They now have three losses and are in sixth-conference place.

The under 18 women’s team lost 32 to 77. Michelle Curro scored two, Rebecca Samson four, Maddison Galliott two, Samantha Tognolini 10, Lucy Noll two, Breanna Goodson eight and Claire Somers four. They are in sixth conference place with three losses.

The under 18 division one men’s team lost 70 to 80, which sees them in fifth conference place out of six-teams with three losses. Corey Murray had four, Jacob Marr two, Jack Wagner 16, Lattrell Matthews 17, Jack Lowes one, Jeet Mann eight, Jarett Donker nine, Sean Jakens six and Frank Johnson seven.

The under 20 men lost to the Willetton Tigers 50 to 104, which leaves them in eight-place overall with three losses. Logan Viskovich had 15, Bradley Hall six, James Toncich 13, Alex Jacobsen eight, Hugh Collison two and Benjamin Wedge six.

The D-League women’s team remains unbeaten with three wins and no losses, and in top conference place, after their 58 to 52 win over the Suns. Gabby O’Sullivan scored 12, Emily Harris eight, Lori Ashworth six, Alix Hayward 12, Natasha Nicholson four, Jess Hughes eight, Catherine Tinley seven and Kristy Jedrzewjewski one.

The D-League men’s team won 81 to 73, leaving them in second conference place with two wins and one loss. Ben Ellis had four, Jamieson Lewis 18, Shaun Bennison 10, Jared Faint seven, Steven Vigor 16 and Tim Rendulic 26.

The Western Australian Basketball League action continues this Sunday with a home-game fixture against the Mandurah Magic. Individual game-times can be accessed via website www.wabl.asn.au and following the ‘drop-down’ menu for fixtures/results (round four).
