Redbacks’ Sustain First Loss

The Perth Redbacks’ Men’s State Basketball League sustained their first loss of the year going down to the Wanneroo Wolves 90 to 106.

This leaves them with two-wins and one-loss and in fourth-place in the 14-team competition.

Centre Justin Brown top-scored for the Redbacks with 24 along with seven rebounds and power-forward Michael Vigor scored 19, brought down 13 rebounds and had three assists.

Shooting guard Jarrad Prior scored 16 and had five rebounds and two steals while point-guard Joel Wagner scored 15 and had 10 assists.

Sean Easther stop-scored for the Wolves with 25 while Seb Salinas had 21 and Trian Iliadis 16.

The Redbacks’ Women’s team were also beaten by the Wolves 30 to 53.

Their top-scorer was point-guard Rachel Lisch who had 11 and eight rebounds.

Centre Marita Payne was their next highest scorer with six along with eight rebounds.

The game-high scorer was the Wolves Nikita Lee-Martin with 16 and seven rebounds while Casey Lockwood had 14 and seven rebounds.

The Redbacks’ Women’s team has no wins and two losses and is in 10th place in the 12-team competition.

This Friday the Redbacks take on the Stirling Senators at the Belmont Oasis Leisure Centre with the women’s game starting at 6.30PM and the men’s game at 8.30PM.

The Redbacks then meet the Lakeside Lightning on Sunday at the Lakeside Recreation Centre, with the women’s game starting at 1.30PM and the men’s game at 3.30PM
