BOQ Redbacks' First Home Game
The Bank of Queensland Redbacks’ State Basketball League women’s and men’s teams play the Southlands Boulevard Willetton Tigers in their first home game of the year at the Belmont Oasis Leisure and Aquatic Centre.
The women’s game starts at 6PM and the men’s game at 8PM.
The Redbacks’ men are coming off last week’s strong 88 to 81 away-game win against the Silver Lake Resources in the tough Kalgoorlie venue.
This will be the first chance to see current Wildcat Michael Vigor and former National Basketball League players Justin Brown, Joel Wagner and Jarrad Prior playing at home in their up-tempo style game under new coach Nik Lackovic.
It will also be the first chance to see the Redbacks’ women’s team that includes Rachel Lisch, Marita Payne, Gabby O’Sullivan and Jess Jakens in action in 2013.
At the end of each game the Len Vlahov Memorial Award, made in the first home-game each year, will be awarded to the best Redbacks’ player in the men’s and women’s team.
Len Vlahov was a founding member of the Redbacks and prominent in setting up the club in its first year of operation in 1964.
Redbacks’ supporters are called upon to come and cheer for your teams in Saturday’s games.
