Redbacks' 12s Men and 15s Women Win Championships

 

The Perth Redbacks’ Men’s under 12s and Women’s under 15s teams both won the Second Division of their respective age groups in the State Basketball Championships.

The under 12s Men won as a result of their 28 to 19 grand-final win against the Willetton Tigers.

Their run to the grand final saw them with qualifying round wins over the Lakeside Lightning 26 to 12, Stirling Senators 40 to 21 and the Wanneroo Wolves Green 39 to nine.

Their only loss was in the qualifying round game against the Willetton Tigers 26 to 30.

They made the grand final after having beaten the Perry Lakes Hawks 1 41 to 16 in the semi-final.

The under 15s Women’s team’s road to their grand final win saw them beat the Stirling Senators 39 to 16, the East Perth Eagles 35 to 19 and the Stirling Senators 39 to 16.

Their only loss was against the Ballarat Miners 12 to 42.

Their grand-final victory came following a thrilling 30 to 28 win against the East Perth Eagles.

The under 15s men had a solid campaign in the Championship Division of the State Championships winning two and losing three games.

Their wins were 34 to 17 against the Rockingham Flames and 50 to 29 against Kalamunda Eastern Suns.

Their losses were 16 to 31 against the Wanneroo Wolves, 20 to 27 against the Geraldton Amateur Basketball Association and 17 to 48 against the ultimate tournament winners the Willetton Tigers.

The Under 12 Women’s team competed in the Championship Division of the State Basketball Championships.

They lost to the Perry Lakes Hawks seven to 33, Kalamunda Eastern Suns 16 to 21, nine to 39 against the Wanneroo Wolves, 17 to 23 against Lakeside Lightning, 20 to 25 against Rockingham Flames and 19 to 29 against the Willetton Tigers.

Next weekend is the last of the State Championships and will see the under 14s, 16s and 18s in action.
