Mullin makes 450 SBL Games

In 2002, 25 year old Ryan Neill brought his unique game to the Perth Redbacks.

Considered surplus at the Cockburn Basketball Association, the man known far and wide as "Mullin" was eager to make the most of a fresh start with his new club and to prove himself all over again.  This weekend against the Willetton Tigers the club legend will play his 450th game in the league, placing him second on the all-time games played list.

Fiercely loyal as a player, Mullin quickly put the disappointment of the Cougar experience behind him and began to make himself at home in his new colours.  Twelve seasons later (268 games), never wavering in his commitment to the club, he has come through good times and bad.  His undoubted career highlight, the league Most Valuable Player Award in 2004.

Over the past two seasons, as league observers began to expect the typical slowdown for a player in his mid-thirties, Mullin continued to prove the doubters wrong, with two of the top offensive seasons of his career - averaging over 20 points per game.  Despite off-season knee surgery, the ageless shooting guard continues to defy expectations in 2012 as the most dangerous bench scorer in the league, punctuated by his explosive 38-point performance in Round 4.  Averaging 16ppg in only 24 minutes per outing he continues to be one of the most dangerous and elusive players in the league, regularly frustrating opposition players and coaches, putting his hand up for consideration as sixth-man-of-the-year.

With the Redbacks sitting in equal third place near the half-way mark of the season, Mullin will celebrate game number 450 on Saturday Night against the Willetton Tigers.  The club encourages all of our fans to come down to the Redbacks Home Court (Belmont Oasis) to help us celebrate the incredible and ongoing career of one of the league's all-time greats.
