Young Redback Striving for the Top

Like all young basketball players, the Redbacks own Michael Vigor has dreams of carving out a career as a professional.  And as a member of the Perth Wildcats, often touted as the best run program in the National Basketball League, he is doing all the right things to make those dreams a reality.

By the time Scottish-born Michael arrived in Australia with his family, he'd also spent significant time in Indonesia and Dubai.  But it wasn't until the age of fifteen that this international man of mystery first pulled on a Redbacks jersey.

Over the next few years, a combination of his basketball I.Q. and his obsession with the game have seen him rise steadily as the best young "big" in the league.  This year, that talent was recognised as the Wildcats awarded him a position as one of their development players.

Now his days are filled with weights sessions, intense on court work as a member of the (current) top team in the NBL, and countless individual workouts with members of the Wildcats staff.

As he serves an apprenticeship under the likes of perennial MVP candidate Shawn Redhage, Australian Boomers squad members Jesse Wagstaff and Luke Neville, and New Zealand Tall Blacks squad member Jeremiah Trueman, Michael's eyes are firmly on the future.  In the years to come such a foundation, coupled with his European passport could easily see Michael living his dream as a professional basketball player.

The Redbacks are very proud to see one of their favourite sons on the road to success.  Michael follows in the proud footsteps of former Redbacks NBL players like Eddie and Brad Cecins, Ian Frame, Andrew Lewis, Andrew Vlahov, Luc Longley, Craig Evans, Paul Pochintesta, Joel Wagner, Jarrad Prior, and is living the experience alongside former Redback junior Rob Cassir.
