Redbacks Development Program

The Perth Basketball Association have unveiled our new development team ahead of the upcoming basketball year.  With a renewed focus on junior coach and player development the Redbacks will re-invest resources into our Domestic and W.A.B.L. programs over the seasons ahead.

Joining Mens Head Coach David Harris - who has been appointed the clubs Operations and Development Manager - are new junior Development Officers Joel Wagner and Jarrad Prior.  WSBL player Jayne Armstrong is also expected to play a key part in the program.

Joel has recently experienced the highest level of competition in the country having earlier in the year played in the National Basketball League for the Sydney Kings. Former Wildcats squad member Jarrad Prior has returned to the Redbacks after a season playing for the Ballarat Miners in the South East Australian Basketball League. Both players, who began their careers at junior Domestic level with the Redbacks understand the importance of creating and maintaining similar pathways to success for our players of the future.

The Development team have hit the ground running.  With over 60 school visits already locked in for Term 4, we hope to raise our school count to over 300 for the year!  If you would like to see Joel or Jarrad at your school, or if you would like to have them attend your Domestic club training sessions simply email developmentmanager@perthredbacks.asn.au to book in a time.

You may have already noticed a change in the website.  Hoping to create an online portal direct to the club, we've cleaned it up and made sure it will be easy for ALL of our Domestic players to find information about fixtures, results, standings and weekly award winners.  Every week, one player from each age group will be selected as our Junior Player of the Week for displaying skill, sportsmanship, and passion for the game of basketball.  Remember to check the website every Monday afternoon for the latest results and winners! Prizes can be collected the following Saturday from the Site Coordinator.

Remember also to check our Community section regularly to find out what we're up to and when we'll be holding our next basketball camp.

The coming weeks will see some positive changes across all of our centres.  If you see one of our Site Coordinators (look for the Redbacks Polo Shirt walking around) remember to say hi, and give them whatever feedback you can to help us improve our services.

Term 4 will also see the first Redbacks Domestic Development Day.  The day will include domestic coach development, player development, guest coaches and interaction with our development team as well as some of our State League players.  If you would like any information please email developmentmanager@perthredbacks.asn.au  Full details will be revealed in the coming fortnight.

ANY and ALL feedback should be directly sent to our Operations and Development Manager by email.
