Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks' WABL Wrap Round Nine

The Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ Western Australian Basketball League sides had four wins and twelve losses in their round nine clashes against the Perry Lakes Hawks.

The under 12 men’s team lost 39 to 61. Luke Simonette scored nine, Nick Biancuzzo two, Jordan Rigden two, Joshua Armstrong two, Kyle Bowen 14, Jack Tognolini two and Jordon Herbert eight. They have five wins and four losses and are in fourth place in the six-team Northern Conference.

The under 12 women’s team lost 26 to 40, which sees them with a season record of four wins and four losses and in second place in the six-team conference. Melissa Hughes scored two, Emily Nixon 17, Sophie Pyne three, Morgan Stewart two and Noor Soliman two.

The under 13 men’s team lost 31 to 53. Aidan Lewins scored one, Mitchell Parker two, Reece Hewitt eleven, Nazir Hashem one, Mihalo Bozic two, Ryan Bride two and Jack Collard six. They have two wins and seven losses and are in fifth place in the six-team conference.

The under 13 women’s team lost 20 to 81. This sees them in fourth in the five-team conference. Chloe Smith scored 11, Nadia Parora two, Caitlin Thacker two and Emma Bowen five.

The under 14 men’s team is in second conference place out of six teams with eight wins and one loss after beating the Hawks 63 to 57. Connor Jansen scored three, Jared Pedersen six, Max Whately two, Nicholas Ramsay four, Stephen Pover 10, Andrew Rich 10, Adam Parora seven and Zac Huxley 21.

The under 14 women’s team lost 17 to 87, which sees them with one win and seven losses and in fourth conference place out of five teams. Keziah Bin Sali had four, Emerson Lambert two, Ashtyn Mason four, Gabriella Pyne two, Tayla Naudi two and Shannyn Pomversbach three.

The under 15 men’s team won a tight encounter 61 to 57. Jack Wagner scored 12, Matthew Biletic nine, Jeet Mann nine, Sean Jakens 18, Matthew Newell four, Jonathon Warren five and Kevin Tingyendu four. This sees them move ahead of the Hawks to third conference place out of six teams with five wins and four losses.

The under 15 women’s team is in fifth conference place with no wins and eight losses after their 35 to 63 loss. Alison Mcelvie scored one, Lainey Stewart nine, Michelle Curro four, Kyra Law five, Jessica Richardson seven, Rebecca Sampson five and Emily Hughes four.

The under 16 men’s team lost 43 to 70. Lattrell Matthews scored seven, Jarrett Donker four, Clint Jansen four, Beau Chaplin four, Julian Nelthorpe two, Giordano Monteleone 19 and Yoseph Soliman three. They are in third conference place with six wins and three losses and in third conference place with six wins and three losses.

The under 16 women’s team is in fifth conference place out of six teams with one win and eight losses after their 39 to 87 loss. Alicia Matrenza had two, Emily Hughes two, Samantha Tognolini three, Lucy Noll two, Taylah Mason three, Tereasa Maines 14 and Tayla Goodson one.

The under 18 division two men’s team lost 30 to 74. Logan Viskovich scored five, Steve Maaskant two, David Freissbourg-Mari five, Matthew Ramanah five, Alex Jacobsen three, Liam Briggs four, Giorgio Milio four and Hasula Poogoda two. They are in fifth conference place out of six teams with one win and six losses.

The under 18 women’s team has two wins and six losses and are in fourth conference place out of five teams after losing 46 to 64. Natasha Ziino scored two, Abbey Harris two, Bianca Parora six, Jessica Hughes 21, Lori Ashworth 11, Tiarn Burtenshaw two and Caitlin Largue two.

The under 18 division one men lost 84 to 67. Charles Corr had four, Luke Fletcher 21, Darcy Smit 28, Ashleigh Grigson three, Kevin Zhu two, Sanni Mandred three, Domenic Romeo four and Ben Ellis two. They are in sixth conference place at the end of round nine.

The under 20 men lost 51 to 69, which sees them in third conference place with four wins and three losses. Filip Glisic had four, Sheldon Godfrey six, Steven Vigor two, Jake Whately 12, Geordie Murray 16, Johno Montgomery nine and Ashley Flynn two.

The men’s Development League team lost by the narrowest possible margin 71 to 72. They now have seven wins and five losses and are in third conference place out of six teams. Ashley Stephens and Blake Stephens both scored 12, Jake Whately seven, Tim Rendulic 17, Dale Elliot 14 and Joshua Guppy nine.

In yet another thriller the women’s Development League team beat the Hawks 51 to 49. Latoya Wallace scored nine, Gabby O’Sullivan 14, Kristy Jedrzewewski three, Catherine Tinley six and Alix Hayward six. This sees them in top conference place out of six teams with 11 wins and one loss.

The highest overall Benchmark Designer Homes men’s scorer was under 18 Division One player Luke Fletcher and under 14 Zac Huxley both with 21, under 16 Giordano Monteleone with 19 and under 15 Sean Jakens with 18.

Under 18 Jessica Hughes was the highest scorer of the women’s teams with 21 while under 12 Emily Nixon had 17 and under 16 Tereasa Maines had 14. Special mention is also made of under 13 Chloe Smith who scored 11 out of her team’s total of 20.
