Benchmark Designer Redbacks WABL Wrap Round Eight

The Benchmark Designer Homes’ Redbacks’ Western Australian Basketball League teams had a strong home-round against the Mandurah Magic last Sunday winning eight of 14.

There were some strong individual scores from the Redbacks’ men with the under 15s Beau Chaplin the highest scorer of the day with 36, while fellow under 15 Giordano Monteleone along with Development League player Dale Elliot both had 34 and under 15 Jeet Mann 29.

The highest individual scorer from the Redbacks’ women’s teams was the under 13s Chloe Smith who continued her season long strong performances with 19. The under 12s Emily Nixon and the under 15s Samantha Tognolini, who recently returned from injury, were both the next highest scorers with 12.

The Benchmark Designer Homes’ Redbacks under 12s men’s team got the day away to a good start with their 81 to 45 win over the Magic. Nicholas Romero scored two, Luke Simonette 21, Zacary Chedin four, Nick Biancuzzo four, Jordan Rigden two, Joshua Armstrong two, Kyle Bowen 25, Jack Tognolini eight and Jordon Herbert 14. They now have five wins and three losses and are in third Northern Conference place out of six teams.

In a thriller that was decided by the very last basket the under 12 women’s team won by the narrowest of margins, 40 to 39. They are now in second conference place out of five teams with four wins and three losses.   Emily Nixon scored 12, Nicola Kastropil one, Sharyce Krakouer six, Melissa Hughes four, Lauren Thompson six and Sophy Pyne eight.

The Redbacks under 13 men had a strong 72 to 28 win, which sees them with two wins and six losses and in fifth conference place out of six teams. All players scored with Mitchell Parker getting five points, Todd Nosworthy six, Reece Hewitt 14, Braedin Goodson two, Nazi Hashem six, Mitchell Matrenza four, Mihalo Bozic two, Ryan Bride 19, Jack Collard seven, Kyle Sullivan three and Nicholas Pyne two.

The under 13 women’s team lost to the Magic 30 to 67, which sees them with a season record of one win and six losses and in fourth conference place out of five teams. Chloe Smith scored 19, Jordan Parkin two, Rachel Warren four, Caitlin Thacker two, Kai Wineera one and Paige Fleming two.

The under 14 men won 63 to 48. Kaelin Kramer had two points, Connor Jansen 15, Jared Pedersen six, Max Whately one, Stephen Pover four, Andrew Rich six, Adam Parora six and Zac Huxley 20. They are in second conference place out of six teams with the strong record of seven wins and one loss.

The under 14 women have one win and six losses and sit in fourth conference place out of five teams after their 26 to 54 loss to Magic. Keziah Bin Sali scored four, Emerson Lambert two, Ashtyn Mason 10, Juliet Tucker two, Gabriella Pyne two and Tayla Naudi four.

The under 15 men’s team had a strong 89 to 43 win. Matthew Biletic scored 22, Jeet Mann 29, Sean Jakens 16, Fraser Rose two, Timothy Lewis six, Matthew Newell six, Jonathon Warren two, Kevin Tingyendu four and Jack Lowes two. They are in third conference place out of six teams with four wins and four losses.

The under 15 women’s team are in sixth conference place with seven losses after their 22 to 83 defeat by the Magic. Individual scores have not been recorded on the website for this game.

The under 16 men won 97 to 53, which sees them with six wins and two losses and in third conference place out of six teams. Lattrell Matthews scored six, Jarrett Donker five, Beau Chaplin 36, Giordano Monteleone 34, Jacob Marr five and Yoseph Soliman six.

The under 16 women lost 27 to 100. Samantha Tognolini scored 12, Lucy Noll four, Taylah Mason three and Tereasa Maines six. They now have one win and seven losses and are in fifth conference place out of six teams.

The under 18 division two men’s team had a bye and remain in fifth conference place out of six teams with one win and five losses.

The under 18 women are in fourth conference place out of five teams with two wins and five losses, after their narrow 50 to 52 loss to the Magic. Jessica Jakens scored eight, Emma Black two, Abbey Harris five, Bianca Parora eight, Jessica Hughes nine, Lori Ashworth seven, Tiarn Burtenshaw two and Caitlin Largue nine.

The under 18 division one men lost 63 to 70. Charles Corr had two, Luke Fletcher seven, Darcy Smit 21, Ashleigh Grigson two, Sanni Mandred two, Domenic Romeo 19 and Ben Ellis six. They are in sixth conference place with no wins and eight losses.

The under 20 men’s team has four wins and two losses and are in second conference place out of six teams after their bye.

In a high scoring affair the Development League men’s team won 113 to 61. They are now in second place out of six conference teams with seven wins and four losses. All players scored with Blake Smith getting 14 points, Jared Faint 18, Jake Whately 16, Tim Rendulic 12, Dale Elliot 34, Geordie Murray 10 and Joshua Guppy nine.

The Benchmark Designer Homes’ Redbacks’ Development League women’s team has an excellent 10 win and one loss season record and are in top conference place out of six teams. This follows another strong win with a score of 81 to 43 against the Magic. Individual scorers have not been recorded on the website for this game.

The WABL action continues tomorrow with the Benchmark Designer Homes’ Redbacks playing the Perry Lakes Hawks in an away round at the State Basketball Centre.
