Benchmark Designer Homes WABL Wrap Round Five

The Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks travelled down to Eaton to play the Bunbury Slammers in round five of the Western Australian Basketball League fixtures, with the Redbacks winning five games and the Slammers ten.

The highest scorer of all the Redbacks’ men was under 16 Beau Chaplin with 27 while fellow under 16 Giordano Monteleone scored 26, under 14 Zac Huxley a strong 24 and Development League player Dale Elliot 20.

Development League player Jessica Jakens was the top-scorer of the Redbacks’ women with 28, under 16 Tereasa Maines was the next highest score with 14 while Development League players Gabby O’Sullivan and Alix Hayward both scored 13.

The Benchmark Designer Homes under 12 men got the day away on a good note winning 64 to 42. Kyle Bowen top-scored with 17 while Luke Simonette had 16, Jordan Herbert 14, Joshua Armstrong five, Nick Biancuzzo and Jordan Ridgen both had four and Nicholas Parker and Jack Tognolini two. They are currently in fourth place in the six team Northern Conference with three wins and two losses.

The Redbacks’ under 12 women’s team is now in second place in their five team conference with two wins and two losses following their 22 to 47 loss. Emily Nixon top-scored with eight and Lauren Thompson had seven while Sophie Pyne, Noor Soliman and Sharyce Krackouer all had two.

The under 13 men’s team lost 37 to 48, which sees them with a season record of one win and four losses and in fifth place in the six-team conference. Reece Hewitt scored 12, Ryan Bride eight, Todd Nosworthy and Nicholas Pyne six and Jack Collard five.

The under 13 women’s team lost 12 to 95. Rachel Warren and Chloe Smith both scored four while Nadia Parore and Paige Fleming scored two. They are in fifth conference place with no wins and four losses.

The under 14 men’s team has a season record of four wins and one loss and are in third place in the six-team conference following their 50 to 39 win. Zac Huxley was the game-high scorer with 24 while Connor Jansen, Jared Pedersen and Andrew Rich all scored six, Adam Parora four and Steven Pover and Max Whately two.

The under 14 women’s team lost 25 to 61. Juliet Tucker scored eight, Keziah Bin Sali six, Gabriella Pyne four, Emily Capstick three and Emerson Lambert two. They are now in fourth conference place out of five teams with no wins and three losses.

The under 15 men’s team is in fifth conference place out of six teams with one win and four losses after their 42 to 65 loss. Jeet Mann and Sean Jakens both scored 12, Matthew Biletic 10, Jonathon Warren three, Jack Wagner two, Matthew Newell two and Jack Lowes two.

The under 15 women’s team lost 34 to 70. Rebecca Sampson scored 11, Breanna Goodson six, Lainey Stewart four, Kyra Law four, Jessica Richardson four, Michelle Curro three, Sarah Gunn one and Alison McKelvie one. They have a season record of no wins and four losses and are in fifth conference place.

The under 16 men had a strong 90 to 49 win. They now have three wins and two losses and are in fourth place in the six team conference. Beau Chaplin was the game-high scorer with 27, Giordano Monteleone scored 26, Lattrell Matthews 17, Jacob Marr 13, Jarrett Donker two, Julian Nelthorpe two, Clint Jansen two and Yoseph Soliman one.

The under 16 women have one win and four losses and are in fifth conference place out of six teams after their 33 to 86 loss. Tereasa Maines scored 14, Tayla Mason seven, Rachael Goodger five, Alicia Matrenza two, Lucy Noll two, Tayla Goodson two and Taylor Burtenshaw one.

The under 18 division two men narrowly lost 55 to 58. Liam Briggs scored 12, David Freissbourg-Mari 10, Matthew Ramanah nine, Alex Jacobsen six, Alex Guillon six, Giorgio Milio four, Logan Viskovich four, Steve Maaskant two and Hasula Poogoda two. They are in fifth conference place out of six-teams with one win and two losses.

The under 18 division one girls had their first win of the year beating the Slammers 56 to 43. They now have one win and three losses and are in fifth conference place. Jessica Jakens scored 14, Jessica Hughes 11, Bianca Parora nine, Natasha Ziino eight, Abbey Harris seven, Lori Ashworth four and Tiarn Burtenshaw three.

The under 18 division one men are in sixth conference place with no wins and five losses following their narrow 60 to 64 loss. Domenic Romeo scored 12, Gilbert Serem 11, Darcy Smit 11, Ben Ellis 10, Luke Fletcher eight, Ashleigh Grigson five and Sanni Mandred three.

The Benchmark Designer Homes under 20 men’s team had a bye. They remain in top conference place out of six teams with three wins and one loss.

In a highly competitive and dominant northern conference the Development League women’s team finds themselves in third conference place despite having seven wins and only one loss after beating the Slammers 84 to 48. Jessica Jakens was the game-high scorer with 28, Gabby O’Sullivan and Alix Hayward both had 13, Natasha Nicholson nine, Kristy Jedrzewewski eight and Catherine Tinley two.

The Development League men’s team lost to the Slammers 52 to 57. Dale Elliot scored 20, Joshua Guppy nine, Ashley Stephens six, Jake Whately four, Jared Faint four and Tim Rendulic two. They are now in third conference place of out six teams with five wins and three losses.
