Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks’ WABL – Grand Finals
The Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks WABL under 18s and Development League women’s teams were both beaten their grand final games last weekend.
The under 18 women’s team lost to the Southwest Slammers 66 to 86. Jessica Jakens top-scored for the Redbacks with 23 while Gabby O’Sullivan and Jessica Hughes both had 11, Madison Ireland 9, Carlie Richardson 6 and Emma Black, Elise Neates and Tiarn Burtenshaw all had 2.
The under 18 women’s team has a bright future for season 2011, given that all players in this year’s team are again eligible to play again next year in that grade.
The Development League women’s team lost 51 to 60 to the Perry Lakes Hawks. Jacinta Bourne top-scored for the Redbacks with 17 while Narelle Henry had 10, Natasha Nicholson 9, Frances Clarke 6, Alix Hayward 4, Monique Kickett 3 and Catherine Tinley 2.
This season has seen a steady improvement in the Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks WABL teams generally with nine of the 16 teams making finals, 5 teams reaching the semi-finals round or beyond, 3 teams reaching the preliminary finals round and 2 teams the grand finals round.
We now look forward to season 2011 and the continued improvement in our WABL teams.
