Benchmark Designer Homes WABL Wrap – Round 15

WABL round 15 went well for the Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks with an 8-win 6-loss result.

All games were against the East Perth Eagles at the Morley Recreation Centre apart from the under 16 women’s team’s game against Stirling Senators 2 and the under 20 men’s team’s game against Lakeside Lightning.

Under 18 women’s team player Jessica Jakens was the highest women’s and overall WABL scorer on the day for the Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks with a massive 58 while under the 15 Sam Tognolini had 45, under 18 Gabby O’Sullivan 29 and under 12 Chloe Smith 22.

The under 15 men’s Giordano Monteleone was the highest men’s team scorer on the day with 40 while under 16 Domenic Romeo had 37, under 12 Kyle Bowen 32, Development League player’s Michael Vigor and Ashley Stephens 30 and 27 respectively, under 15 Luke Fletcher 27 and under 20 Ashley Flynn 21.

The under 12 women’s team got the day away in good style for the Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks in winning against the Eagles 42 to 34. Chloe Smith was the game-high scorer with 22 while Samantha Campbell scored a strong 12, Noor Soliman 4, Caitlin Thacker 2 and Nadia Parora 2. They now have a season record of 2 wins and 13 losses and are in 5th place in the 6-team Northern Conference competition.

The under 12 men’s team also had a strong 62 to 36 win. Zacary Chedin scored 2, Reece Hewitt 4, Luke Simonette 8, Joshua Armstrong 2, Nicholas Moody 2, Ben Vos 2, Daniel Ong 6, Kyle Bowen 32, Nicholas Pyne 2 and Kyle Sullivan 2. They are in second conference place in the 5-team conference with 8 wins and 6 losses.

The under 13 women’s team had a bye. They remain in 5th conference place with 2 wins and 11 losses.

The under 13 men’s team lost 37 to 50, which sees them now with 6 wins and 9 losses and in 4th conference place out of 6-teams. Jordan Hands scored 2, Max Whately 2, Nicholas Ramsay 2, Stephen Pover 13, Adam Parora 8, Daniel Skelton 8 and Alex Mancini 2.

The under 14 women’s team also had a bye. They remain in 5th conference place with 1 win and 12 losses.

The under 14 men’s team is now in 4th conference place out of 6-teams with 7 wins and 8 losses following their 60 to 51 defeat. Jeet Mann top-scored with 11 while Sean Jakens had 6, Timothy Lewis 2, Matthew Newell 3, Jack Wagner 8, Shaquille Maharaj 10 and Jack Lowes 1.

The under 15 women’s team won their second game in a row after beating the Eagles 72 to 59. Samantha Tognolini impressed with a game high 45 while Natasha Hansen and Rachael Goodger both had 3 and Lucy Noll 2. They now have 3 wins and 12 losses and are in 5th place in the 6-team conference.

The under 15 men’s team lost 71 to 82 in a tight encounter against the Eagles that see-sawed throughout the whole game. Lattrell Matthews scored 7, Jarrett Donker 14, Clint Jansen 3, Lloyd Harwood 1, Alex Bevilaqua 2, Giordano Monteoleone a huge 40 and Yoseph Soliman 4. They are in 4th conference place with 7 wins and 8 losses.

The under 16 women’s team won their away-game against the Stirling Senators -2 with a 79 to 27 score-line. Caitlin Largue scored 7, Natasha Ziino 8, Abbey Harris 8, Bianca Parora 9, Jessica Hughes 14, Kristie Hawes 12, Sophie Mackin 8 and Luke Ashworth 13. They are now in 4th conference place with 8 wins and 7 losses.

The under 16 men’s team is in 5th conference place out of 6-teams with 4 wins and 11 losses following their 115 to 79 loss to the Eagles. Domenic Romeo was the game-high scorer with 37 while Luke Fletcher had 27, Liam Brigs 5, Hasula Poogoda 2 and Connor Kelly 2.

The under 18 division 2 men’s team lost 46 to 70, which sees them in 6th conference place with 2 wins and 11 losses. Kevin Zhu scored 2, Mark Elliott 4, Jonathan Birkett 5, Brad Smeaton 2, Bradley Hall 6, Giorgio Milio 1, Sanni Mandred 4, Scott Sampson 8 and Raphael Bianchini 10.

The under 18 women’s team won 121 to 62. Jessica Jakens scored a massive 58, Gabby O’Sullivan 29, Emma Black 6, Caris Dinardo 10, Carlie Richardson 7 and Madison Ireland 11. They are 2nd in their 6-team conference with 8 wins and 7 losses.

The under 18 division 1 men’s team is in 6th conference place with 2 wins and 13 losses following their narrow 86 to 80 loss. Dylan Murphy scored 4, Travis Uphill 5, Stephen Thick 5, Charles Corr 3, Jamieson Lewis 16, Darcy Smit 4, Steven Vigor 18, Filip Glisic 11 and Ben Ellis 14.

The under 20 men’s team won their away game against Lakeside Lightning 67 to 64. Joshua Guppy scored 4, Giordie Murray 5, Shaun Bartlett 16, Sheldon Godfrey 3, Ashley Flynn 21 and Tighe Rodgers 6. They are in 7th position out of 9-teams with 4 wins and 10 losses.

The Development League women’s team remains in 2nd conference place out of 6-teams following their 61 to 48 win. All players scored with Katarina Ualkovic getting 6, Kerise Delcoure 7, Gabby O’Sullivan 5, Alix Hayward 8, Natasha Nicholson 16, Kristy Jedrzeweski 12 and Catherine Tinley 7.

The Development League men’s team won 93 to 77. This sees them with 14 wins and 1 loss and in 1st conference place out of 6-teams. Blake Smith scored 17, Jarrad Jackson 4, Michael Vigor 30, Jake Whately 3, Jared Faint 5, Tim Rendulic 1 and Ashley Stephens 27.
