Benchmark Designer Homes WABL Wrap Round 14

The Benchmark Designer Homes had a strong day in round 14 of the Western Australian Basketball League with 10 wins and six losses. All games were against the Rockingham Flames with the exception of the under 20 men’s team game, which was against the East Perth Eagles.

Under 16s’ Luke Fletcher was the top-scorer out of the male Redbacks’ players on the day with 47, while Development League player Michael Vigor scored 29 and under 15 Lattrell Matthews along with under 20 Geordie Murray both scored 24.

Under 18’s Jessica Jakens was the highest scorer of the women’s Redbacks’ players with 38 while under 15 Samantha Tognolini scored 20, under 16 Jessica Hughes 19 and under 18 Gabby O’Sullivan also had 19.

The under 12 men’s team lost to the Flames 45 to 56. Reece Hewitt scored 12, Luke Simonette 8, Nicholas Moody 1, Daniel Ong 6, Kyle Bowen 15 and Nicholas Pyne 3. They are in third place in the five-team Northern Conference with seven wins and six losses.

The under 12 women’s team is in fifth conference place out of six-teams with one win and 13 losses after their 26 to 68 point loss. Chloe Smith scored 12, Sophie Pyne 4, Noor Soliman 5 and Samantha Campbell 5.

The under 13 men’s team won 66 to 35. Jordan Hands scored 4, Max Whately 7, Nicholas Ramsay 10, Stephen Pover 21, Ibraham Soliman 3, Adam Parora 16, Daniel Skelton 4 and Alex Mancini 1. They have a season record of six wins and eight losses and are in fourth conference place out of six teams.

The ever-improving under 13 women’s team lost in a tight encounter against the Flames 41 to 55. They have a season record of two wins and 11 losses and are in 5th conference place. Talethia Valentine scored 7, Emerson Lambert 12, Amelia Khuu 6, Juliet Tucker 9 and Tayla Naudi 7.

The under 14 men’s team lost in a nail-biting 42 to 44 finish. Matthew Biletic scored 14, Jeet Mann 4, Sean Jakens 3, Timothy Lewis 2, Matthew Newell 2, Jack Wagner 8 and Shaquille Maharaj 9. They are in fourth conference place out of six-teams with seven wins and seven losses.

The under 14 women’s team had the most notable result of the day in gaining their first win of the year after beating the Flames 37 to 26. They are in 5th conference place with one win and 12 losses. They had a good spread of scorers with Sally Ann Mettam on 1, Alison McKelvie 5, Joanna Hoang 1, Kyra Law 6, Michelle Curro 8, Jessica Richardson 7, Rebecca Sampson 7 and Juliet Ratima 2.

The under 15 men’s team lost 54 to 78, which sees them in 4th conference place out of six teams with seven wins and seven losses. Lattrell Matthews scored 24, Jarret Donker 8, Lloyd Harwood 4, Giordano Monteleone 17 and Yoseph Soliman 1.

The under 15 women’s team had their second win of the year in beating the Flames 39 to 36 which, when coupled with their 12 losses, sees them in fifth conference place out of six teams. Taylor Burtenshaw scored 4, Samantha Tognolini 20, Rachael Goodger 2, Shayna Van Bakkum 9, Lucy Noll 2 and Natasha Hansen 2.

The under 16 men’s team is in fifth conference place out of six-teams with four wins and 10 losses after their after their 96 to 88 win over the Flames. Luke Fletcher scored 47, Liam Briggs 9, Conor Kelly 4 and Domenic Romeo 10.

The under 16 women’s team had a strong 70 to 45 win. Natasha Ziino scored 7, Abbey Harris 18, Bianca Parora 4, Jessica Hughes 19, Kristie Hawes 8, Sophie Mackin 5 and Lori Ashworth 9. They are in fourth conference place out of six-teams with seven wins and seven losses.

In yet another dramatic finish the Redbacks under 18 Division 2 men’s team won 82 to 81, which sees them in sixth conference place with two wins and 10 losses. Mark Elliott had 8, Josh Hindle 11, Bradley Hall 4, Brad Smeaton 3, Giorgio Milio 7, Sanni Mandred 22, Scott Sampson 21 and Raphael Bianchini 6.

The under 18 Division 1 men’s team lost 77 to 92. They are now in sixth conference place with two wins and 12 losses. Travis Uphill scored 4, Stephen Thick 4, Jamieson Lewis 2, Darcy Smit 7, Steven Vigor 23, Declan Everett 3, Filip Glisic 15 and Ben Ellis 19.

The under 18 women’s team won 84 to 73. Emma Black had 2, Elise Neates 3, Caris Dinardo 6, Carlie Richardson 6, Jessica Jakens 38, Jessica Hughes 2, Gabby O’Sullivan 19, Tiarn Burtenshaw 5 and Madison Ireland 2. They are in second conference place out of six-teams with seven wins and seven losses.

The under 20 men’s team beat the East Perth Eagles 79 to 73. All players scored with Travis Thornley on 2, Joshua Guppy 12, Geordie Murray 24, Shaun Bartlett 8, Sheldon Godfrey 14, Ryan Vincent 10, Ashley Flynn 4 and Tighe Rodgers 4. They are in eighth place out of nine-teams with three wins and 10 losses.

The Development League women’s team had a huge 119 to 41 strong win against the Flames, which sees them with a season record of 11 wins and three losses and in second conference place out of six-teams. In her second-game of the day Gabby O’Sullivan scored 18, Monique Kickett scored 19, Alix Hayward 24, Natasha Nicholson 9, Kristy Jedreweweski 8, Catherine Tinley 12 and Frances Clarke 15.

The Development League men’s team also had a huge 122 to 68 win against the Flames. All players scored with Jarrad Jackson getting 12, Michael Vigor 29, Jake Whately 16, Jared Faint 10, Tim Rendulic 13, Ashlety Stephens 21, Paul Cassir 5 and Reece Dempster 16.

Round 15 fixtures for the Benchmark Designer Homes Redbacks is against the East Perth Eagles at the Morley Recreation Centre, Wellington Road Morley (near Walter Road).
